Patchy brown pigmentation on the face can be unsightly, usually around the eyes or on the cheeks. Sun exposure accentuates it, darkening the brown spots.  Lasers can remove this pigment, and topical treatment with pigment reducers such as Hydroxyquinone, or Kojik acid, or in combination with steroid creams and Vitamin A can be effective. On-going broad spectrum UV protection and topical Vitamin C applications can be preventative. The gold standard for treatment is the CO2 laser.
