Removal of Benign Lumps and Bumps on the Skin

Unsightly moles, skin tags and brown sunspots can be removed for cosmetic benefit. An initial assessment determines if this is appropriate. Skin tags can sometimes catch on clothing or get in the way of shaving and are very simple to remove.  Some people are bothered by flat brown moles, others by itchy scaly ones and these can also be removed easily using the techniques below.

Radiofrequency Ablation

A unique machine (“Surgitron”) can be used to shave these off quickly and inexpensively. Local anaesthetic is placed under the selected lesions, and a wire electrode gently slices off  the lesion. A radiowave passes through the skin cutting as though a hot knife passing through butter.  No sensation is felt and a small red area results, healing over 7-10 days. No scarring is usual. A depigmented whitish scar can very rarely result in our experience of 20 years with this technology. Verrucae, resistant warts, and even bulbous noses (rhinophyma) can be treated using Radiofrequency Ablation.

CO2 Ablative Laser

This is an alternative for removing multiple lesions which are vapourised and then simply rubbed off the skin, a treatment option that does not involve needles.
